Overall Region Stats (Pre-Worlds 2016)

Below you can find our regional comparison stats for the 2016 World Championship. Before exploring, there are a few things you should know. As always, we provide stats for the EU & NA LCS as well as for the LCK and LMS. We separated the stats into Regular Season and Playoffs + Regionals (together) as well as into stats for all teams in the region or just for the ones who will participate in this year’s Worlds. Just use the filters above the table, without them it can get a bit confusing. There are two types of calculations, average objective timings and everything else. Average objective timings (towards the end of the table) are calculated per game only, meaning First Dragon (or Baron, Tower, etc.) Timing tells you at what point, on average, the first dragon was killed (by either team) in that region. All other stats are calculated on a per team & per game basis. This means that Dragons (or Kills, Deaths, Barons, etc.) per Game tells you how many drakes the average team killed per minute. Keep this in mind, especially when looking at only the teams participating at Worlds. For more explanations, see the glossary below the table.

Region Stats Glossary

Below you find info on those statistics that are not self-explanatory.

Time Spent Significantly Ahead/Behind:

Significantly Ahead and Behind are metrics we introduced here. In the region context here, significantly ahead tells you which percentage of time one of the teams owned 52% or more of the total gold. Significantly behind tells you which percentage of time one of the teams owned 48% or less of the total gold. It checks whether either team has a 52%+ gold lead (or 48%- deficit) at every one-minute interval. If all teams are included (not just Worlds teams), the regional average will show the same value for Ahead and Behind. If one team is ahead, some other team must always be behind. For all teams and all games, this results in the same number. The reason we include both measures is that this explanations does not hold true if we only use the Worlds teams. For a similar example, see the next stat explanation.

GSE Win % if Significantly Ahead/Behind 2 Minutes Before:

GSE stands for Gold Shift Event, another metric we came up with. You can find an introduction here. The GSE Win % if  Significantly Ahead/Behind 2 Minutes Before simply tells the percentage of time the average team in that region won a GSE when sign. ahead/behind 2 Minutes prior. Here, the two will sum up to 100% if you select “All Teams”, because each GSE win comes with a GSE loss for the opponent. If you chose “Worlds Only”, it will likely differ, because those teams did not only play against each other, so not every counterpart is included in the stats. If SKT had a 92% GSE Win % if Significantly Ahead vs. ESC, ESC’S 8% GSE Win % if Significantly Behind vs. SKT does not show up int he “Worlds Only” statistic.

Abs. Gold Diff. @ 15 Minutes:

This is the average absolute gold difference @ 15 minutes per game. It takes the regular GD@15 (which would be 0 on average for the whole region — it is a zero sum game after all) and generates the absolute value from it. This might help determine how close games are, on average, at the 15 minute mark.
